The Riemschneider Foundation, which was established in 2006 by Ingrid Riemschneider, the widow of the Karlsruhe radiologist Harm-Helmut Riemschneider, who was interested in art and who died in 2010, donates its income to art and the promotion of artists, including in the field of visual arts. Since 2012, the Riemschneider Foundation Karlsruhe has been supporting teaching at the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste Karlsruhe with various forms of grants. Two series of events, the Riemschneider Curator Series and the Riemschneider Lectures, form one pillar of the cooperation. Furthermore, the foundation has been involved in equipping workshops at the academy. Since 2012, the Riemschneider Foundation has provided more than 100,000 euros in funding to the Staatliche Akademie der Bildenden Künste. The foundation also provides two Germany scholarships .

New Format for the Collaboration with the Riemschneider Foundation: Riemschneider Podium
The long-standing Riemschneider Curator Series of the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe will relaunch in the Winter Semester 2024/25 with a new format: the Riemschneider Podium. This new format shifts the focus towards dialogue—encouraging discussion and debate between the curator and invited artists. Each podium is curated by a chosen curator and centers around a thematic focus that aligns with the works of the participating artists. After introductory statements by the guests, the main emphasis will be on a collaborative discussion of the topic.
The Academy is honored to have secured Thomas D. Trummer, Director of Kunsthaus Bregenz, as the first curator of the new series. Trummer has served on the Academy's university council for many years. He has been Director of Kunsthaus Bregenz (KUB) since 2015, was Artistic Director of Kunsthalle Mainz (2012–2015), and previously worked as Project Manager for Visual Arts at the Siemens Arts Program in Munich (2007–2012).
For the first Riemschneider Podium, Thomas D. Trummer will bring together two key figures in contemporary art history: VALIE EXPORT and Miriam Cahn. While the media in which these artists work differ, their contributions to fundamental questions in contemporary art—especially from a feminist perspective—are equally significant. Both have frequently centered the female body in their works, creating iconic pieces known for their directness and power. Themes such as the vulnerability of the body, increasingly relevant today, have been explored in their works for decades. Through the meeting of Miriam Cahn and VALIE EXPORT, Trummer facilitates a dialogue between two of the most distinctive artistic voices of recent decades.

The idea behind the Curator Series at the Academy of Arts, which has been made possible by the Riemschneider Foundation since the winter semester 2012/13, is to encourage regular encounters between artists and curators and to anchor them even more firmly in teaching. A curator selected by the professors of the Academy of Arts Karlsruhe invites artists of their choice. In a kick-off event, the curator introduces herself and her exhibition and research interests. In the subsequent events, the focus is on the position of the invited artists. After an introduction by the curator, the artist gives a lecture on his or her work. This gives rise to a discourse with the students. On the following day, the curator and the artist will visit students in their studios and discuss their work with them.

The Riemschneider endowment also made possible two acquisitions for workshops at the Academy of Art. The lithography workshop received a new lithographic press and the woodworking workshop a square plane. These acquisitions were worth over 30,000 euros.
Square planerfor the wood workshop, 2017
The stenter frame making device provided an improvement and increased safety in the wood workshop's workflow.
New lithographic press, 2015
The built-in hydraulics of the new lithographic press provide power savings during the printing process and also enable the production of large-format work.
