The Kunstakademie Karlsruhe offers two undergraduate degree programmes in Painting/Graphics and Sculpture. The diploma programme in Fine Arts leads to artistic independence. The teaching degree programme with Fine Arts at Gymnasium level comprises a bachelor's degree and a postgraduate master's degree.
The teacher training programme is divided into an artistic and a scientific major, the latter to be completed at a cooperating university. The artistic-scientific subprogram Intermedial Design (IMG) is an alternative to the scientific major. This can be studied parallel to the first major at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe.
The Kunstakademie Karlsruhe offers a "Meisterschüler*innenstudium" (Masterclass expanded programme) and a "Kontaktstudium" (study programme without claiming a diploma in Fine Art) further education courses.
The university has the right to award doctorates in the theoretical subjects. It awards the academic degree of Doctor of Philosophy (Dr. phil.) on the basis of a regular doctorate.
