For each individual student, the focus is on discovering and developing their independent artistic approaches, along with the associated refinement and experimentation of artistic techniques and work processes. The central reference point is the class, which is led by an artistic professor. The aesthetic and social conditions and possibilities of visual design are analysed through artistic discourse based on the students' works.
The artistic study in a class setting, combined with personalised mentorship by the artistic professor, forms the core of artistic education at the State Academy of Fine Arts Karlsruhe.
The classes are named after their respective artistic professors.
