Bachelor of Fine Arts

Educator of Fine Arts at Secondary Level (Gymnasium Level)

A unique feature of the artistic Educator degree programme at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe is that student teachers receive their artistic training alongside prospective independent artists, sharing the same work environment - the classroom - rather than being taught separately. This arrangement highlights the importance of studio work, which is emphasized throughout the course of study at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe.

This focus begins as early as the Bachelor's programme. Students are given a year in which to settle into their artistic studies without the burden of a second major. In this particular Bachelor's degree programme, the generous time frame of a four-year standard period of study, offers a nuturing environment for independent artistic studies. Alongside their artistic training, student take courses in Educational Sciences, Subject Didactics, and Art History to prepare for their future teaching careers. The curriculum also includes an introductory school internship to provide practical experience.
