Requirements for Application to a Doctoral Programme
To apply for a doctoral project, applicants must first obtain confirmation of supervision from a professor at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe who is involved in research. Therefore, it is essential to contact the potential supervisor in the relevant field of your research. The research project will then be discussed with the supervisor.
Cotorated can only be pursued in the theoretical fields of Art History, Art and Theory, Educational Sciences and Subjects Didactics in Fine Arts.

For the application process, the following documents must be submitted to the Rectorate:
- Curriculum Vitae
- Dissertation proposal (Exposé)
- Doctoral agreement or confirmation from the supervising professor
- Certified copies of academic qualifications
Additionally, the following may be required:
- Proof of study periods and academic qualifications
- For foreign degrees, a certificate of recognition
Applications for doctoral prorammes are accepted on an ongoing basis.
