Diploma programme Fine Arts

Please note: The Diploma programme Fine Arts, which is equivalent to a Master of Fine Arts, does not qualify you to teach Art in high schools (Gymnasium). To be eligible to teach Fine Arts, you must enroll in the Artistic Educator programme (Bachelor of Fine Arts), which is also offered by the Academy.

Diploma Degree in Fine Arts (equivalent to Master of Fine Arts)

Field of Study: Painting/Graphics or Sculpture

In addition to meeting the general university entrance qualification, admission requires proof of artistic aptitude, which is determined by passing the practical examination.

Application requirements:

  • General university entrance qualification (if not available: declaration of participation in the practical talent test)
  • Letter of motivation (max. 1 MB as PDF file, max. 2 DIN A 4 pages)
  • digitalwork samples (max. 10 MB as PDF file)

If applicable:

  • Recognition of the international university entrance qualifications
  • Proof of German language proficiency (if the university entrance qualification was obtained outside Germany or Austria)
  • Tabular CV
  • Proof of previous studies or current enrollment
  • Certificates of completed internships or vocational training relevant to the field of study
  • Valid admission notice from a previously passed aptitude or talent test at the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe
