Selection process
The application process for the Degree programmes and contact studies consists of the following stages:
Preselection
The preselection is based on the digital application, through which the decision is made regarding eligibility for the artistic-practical exam and the oral exam
Artistic-Practical Exam
The artistic-practical exam consists of a minimum five-hour practical art exam to be completed on-site, taking into account the chosen field of study.
Oral Exam
The oral exam is a conversation where artistic and technical questions are discussed. The discussion is based on the submitted work samples, the motivation letter, and the results of the artistic-practical exam. The conversation lasts approximately 15 minutes for each applicant.
Talent Test
If the applicant does not have a university entrance qualification, an additional talent test is required to demonstrate exceptional artistic talent and a sufficient general education for the studies.
Qualification Exam (Delta Exam)
The qualification exam (Delta exam) assesses whether the applicant, based on their personality, prior knowledge, intellectual abilities, and motivation, is suited for the chosen study program.
The final decision regarding admission to the Kunstakademie Karlsruhe is made by the respective admissions committee.
